Weekly Rewind: Scottish scupper rivals’ title challenge
Edmonton Scottish defeated Edmonton BTB to put a big dent in their Men’s Division title chances, while this matchup saw a five-goal thriller in the women’s competition.

A two-horse race
St Albert Impact can mathematically still win the Women’s Division title, but with only two games remaining in the season and after a 2-1 defeat at the Blizzard last Friday, they need to close a five-point gap to leaders Calgary Foothills. Brooke Batty and Sofia Digiacomo scored either side of Raeghan McCarthy’s goal to give the hosts three points.
Edmonton BTB secured a fourth-place finish with a 3-2 home win against Edmonton Scottish. Adrienne Poulin and Tara Simonot gave them a 2-0 lead at half-time, before Amber Ogbolu and Carys Moore fought back for the Scottish. With the game looking like it was going to end level, Mila Van der Veen stepped up in the 89th minute to steal maximum points.
Friday’s other fixture saw Calgary Villains enjoy their biggest win of the season, 6-0 against Calgary Rangers. Isabelle Lachance had an evening to remember with her four goals, while Olivia Reid and Isabel Ramsay also found the net to give the home side their fourth win of the season.
Sunday saw Calgary Foothills reclaim top spot after the Blizzard’s win thanks to their away victory at Edmonton BTB. Kalley Dancocks had fired the hosts into the lead, but Kendall Showers and Grace Hannaford turned the game on its head to move the Foothills to the summit with two games left.
In their own hands
Calgary Blizzard’s Men’s Division match with St Albert Impact was postponed on Friday night but they still managed to have a successful week by reclaiming top spot, helped by previous leaders Edmonton BTB being handed a 2-1 defeat at home to Edmonton Scottish.
Habib Assem scored what proved to be the winner for Scottish, who have moved onto five wins and 20 points this season.
The Blizzard went to the summit on Tuesday with a 1-0 road win against Cavalry U21. James Greco-Taylor scored the only goal as the visitors moved a point clear of Edmonton BTB with two games in hand, putting the title now firmly in their own hands.
Elsewhere, Callies United enjoyed an entertaining 3-2 home win against Cavalry U21 on Friday. The hosts led twice through Nicolas and Arun, with Nabeel Naboulsi scoring a brace for the visitors to level the game. It was Anson Minty, though, who found the net in the first minute of stoppage time to give his side their fourth win of 2025.
Calgary Rangers put in a five-star performance against Calgary Villains, winning 5-1 away from home. Hunter Delahunt’s brace was a highlight from the game as the Rangers look to secure a top-three finish.
