Weekly Rewind: League leaders defeated
The lead at the top of the Men’s Division swapped hands on Friday, and there was a dramatic 90 minutes in the Women’s Division.

Slip-up at the summit
There were plenty of goals in the Men’s Division on Friday, as those sitting in the top two both failed to win.
One of the biggest talking points of the matchweek was the league leaders, Edmonton BTB, losing to Cavalry U21 in their first defeat of 2025. BTB sat top before the weekend’s games, but Max Niro’s equalizer after Tao Hein’s opener was the first of two Cavalry goals, as Owen Antoniuk won the game in the final moments.
Although they dropped points as well, Calgary Blizzard temporarily moved into first place following a 1-1 tie with Edmonton Scottish. The former took the lead through Efe Udolu-Joshua, but Rilind Idrizi equalized in the second half to deny the Blizzard the win.
Elsewhere, Callies United secured a huge 5-0 win over Calgary Villains thanks to goals from Robel Gebrihiwot, Nicolas, Esrom Yohannes, Jaise Shaw, and Anson Minty. The Villains remain bottom of the standings, searching for their first points.
St Albert Impact also enjoyed a big win, defeating Calgary Rangers 4-0. Noah Lechelt was the home hero, scoring a hat-trick alongside Javier Cassie’s goal, to give Impact their second win of the season.
But the Rangers bounced back on Tuesday night and went top of the standings with a 3-1 victory against Callies United – who would have gone top themselves with three points.
Vital points secured
In the Women’s Division, Calgary Blizzard remained hot on the heels of Calgary Foothills on Friday with a dramatic 4-3 win over Edmonton Scottish. The latter went ahead three times in the match against a resilient Blizzard side, and Rehana Murani’s stoppage-time goal ensured the points went to the hosts.
St Albert Impact made it three wins from three in 2025 after beating Calgary Rangers 2-0. Sariyah Bailey scored her second and third goals of the season to put her side into a very comfortable position in the standings.
Like their male counterparts, the Rangers’ women bounced back on Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Callies United following three second-half goals, including an Ava Beuk double.
Calgary Villains and Callies United played out a 1-1 tie on Friday, and the two sides remained side-by-side in the standings. Isabelle Lachance gave the hosts an early lead, but Analisa Galvez ensured the sides went into half-time level, and that was how the game ended.
