Weekly Rewind: Big Impact from St Albert
Maximum points for St Albert Impact’s teams have had a great effect on the title races in the Men’s and Women’s Divisions.

A ten-goal thriller
St Albert Impact continued their title fight in the Men’s Division on Friday with a 6-4 win over Calgary Foothills, as Noah Lechelt continued his scoring form. Both sides were well in the battle for first place before this game, but a defeat for the Foothills proved costly.
The Impact continued their good form on Sunday by beating Calgary Blizzard 4-0 to move third and within two points of their opponents. Shameiks McLeod had an afternoon to remember, scoring a hat-trick alongside Jacob Kwizera’s opener.
The Foothills were unable to climb into the top three on Tuesday after they tied 1-1 with Calgary Rangers. Charles Nana had fired them into a first-half lead but Clement Guay equalized for the Rangers to give them their second tie of the matchweek to end the season, after a goalless game against Cavalry U21 on Friday.
Edmonton BTB completed their season with a goalless tie against title rivals Calgary Blizzard who, after dropping five points this matchweek, now sit second in the standings. They still have two games in hand over BTB who are top on tiebreakers.
Edmonton Scottish will head into their final match on a high after a 2-0 home win against Callies United. Habib Assem scored a second-half brace, including a penalty, to move his side onto 23 points, with a chance to finish fifth if they can finish with a victory.
The trophy is heading to Calgary
The winner of the Women’s Division will be one of Calgary Foothills or Calgary Blizzard, with the former currently holding top spot.
The Foothills missed out on the opportunity to claim the title on Friday when they were beaten 2-1 at home to St Albert Impact. Rachel Barlow opened the scoring, but Kayla Mosotwich and Adayln Fairweather turned things around for the Impact.
The Foothills’ result was not helped by the Blizzard who put themselves in the perfect position for the title with a 3-1 win at Edmonton BTB. Leann Soppo Mbem levelled for the hosts after Annalise Cicoria’s opener, but Bryn Mortensen scored a brace.
Elsewhere, Callies United enjoyed three points in their penultimate game with a 4-1 win at Edmonton Scottish. Ally Tannas, Amelia Iwanicki, Maya Letellier, and Juli Sorochan all scored for the visitors, as they head into their final match in fifth place.
Tuesday saw Calgary Foothills blow Calgary Rangers away with an 8-0 win at Macron Performance Centre. Kendall Showers continued her scoring form with a brace, alongside another pair for Avril Jamieson, and goals from Grace Hannahford, Emma Schneider, Rachel Barlow, and Abby Steen.
It was the last roll of the dice for Foothills. They are a point clear at the top having completed their fixtures, and their hopes of winning the title are dependent on Calgary Blizzard’s result in their last match.
