Weekly Preview: Titles up for grabs

Both the Men’s and Women’s Divisions can be won this weekend, and the current leaders can only watch on as the action unfolds.

A shot at the championship

Calgary Blizzard are arguably the narrow favourites for the Men’s Division title and could go a step further with a victory at Calgary Villains on Friday evening. The visitors are one point behind Edmonton BTB, who played their final game of the season last weekend.

The crown could go to the Blizzard on Friday if they are victorious and St Albert Impact, who are two points behind, fail to match their result against Callies United.

Meanwhile all the Impact can do is focus on winning on Friday to set up a grand-stand finish at CSC Dome on Sunday when they take on the Blizzard. If the Impact claim two wins from two this weekend, the trophy would head to St Albert and so too a spot in the 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship.

Edmonton Scottish complete their 2025 season on the road against Cavalry U21. The visitors will finish fifth if they claim victory here, in what has been a season of mixed fortunes for the defending champions.

Cavalry U21 and Calgary Villains finish their campaign next Friday, as another entertaining year in League1 Alberta comes to a close.

A potential Blizzard double

Both the Men’s and Women’s Division titles could be heading to the Blizzard, with their women’s team also in contention for silverware. The Blizzard travel to Calgary Villains, with three points securing them their second consecutive championship in what would be an impressive title defence.

It would also mean qualification to their second League1 Canada Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship, and this time, they would be representing the hosting province with the tournament coming to Sherwood Park, Alberta. Currently though, the Foothills sit top of the table.

St Albert Impact and Callies United are the last teams to complete their campaigns, and they face off at 5:30pm on Friday. Impact will finish third in 2025, after staying in the running for the title for most of the campaign.
