Weekend Preview: Rangers travelling to the champs
Calgary Rangers are taking on the Men’s Division title holders live on YouTube in Matchweek Three.

Friday night soccer
We are starting our preview in the Men’s Division with Edmonton Scottish hosting Calgary Rangers live on Alberta Soccer’s YouTube channel. Both teams tied 1-1 in their opening matches of 2025, with the defending champions holding Calgary Blizzard and the Rangers finishing level with Edmonton BTB on April 18.
Elsewhere, St Albert Impact are the home side in their match against Edmonton BTB. The latter have started 2025 unbeaten, with one win and one tie, while the hosts lost their opening match 2-0 to Cavalry U21.
To round up the action in the Men’s Division, current table-toppers Calgary Blizzard host an all-Calgary affair against the Foothills. The Blizzard have four points from a possible six so far, and the visitors won their opening match of the season against Callies United.
Hunting every point available
Over in the Women’s Division, the mirror fixtures are also on Friday with the unbeaten Blizzard looking to continue their 2024 title defence.
The holders have one win and one tie at this stage and are looking to extend their lead at the top against third-place Calgary Foothills. The latter had a perfect start to life in 2025 last week, when they beat Callies United 3-0 away from home.
Edmonton Scottish are looking to put a disappointing sixth-place finish in 2024 behind them. Their opening match of 2025 ended goalless with the Blizzard, and this weekend offers an opportunity to claim their first win of the season. Calgary Rangers’ season began with defeat, so they will also be looking to claim maximum points to kickstart their year.
To round up the weekend of L1AB action, Edmonton BTB are on the road against St Albert Impact. Both sides have tasted victory already this year, but BTB are aiming to put last week’s 4-3 defeat to Calgary Villains right.
Action continues on Tuesday
Matchweek Three does not end on Sunday, because the first Tuesday-night games of the 2025 season take place on May 13. Callies United are hosting Calgary Villains in both divisions.
