Weekly Preview: Full focus on Friday
The L1AB season is approaching its finale with headline fixtures in both the Men’s and Women’s Divisions this weekend.

Penultimate games
The top three in the Women’s competition are approaching their final two games of the season.
League leaders Calgary Foothills are at home to St Albert Impact, who are five points behind in first place. If second-placed Calgary Blizzard fail to win, a victory for the visitors would make it a very interesting end to the season as it would put them just two points away from the summit.
All that the Blizzard can do at this stage is focus on themselves when they travel to Edmonton BTB. Trailing the Foothills by only a single point, they will be hoping to better their result this weekend and set up a tense ending to 2025.
Friday’s final fixture sees Edmonton Scottish host Callies United, with the two bottom sides looking to finish a disappointing year on a high note.
Calgary Foothills are back in action on Tuesday with a chance to win the title as they welcome Calgary Rangers. First, though, their full focus will be on Friday.
Handle the pressure
Calgary Blizzard are still unbeaten at the summit of the men’s competition, and they can earn some breathing space between themselves and their second-placed opponents this weekend when they travel to Edmonton BTB, where a victory would seal the title and TELUS Canadian Championship qualification.
Elsewhere, Calgary Foothills will be aiming to stake their claim for second place with a home win against St Albert Impact; the hosts are currently three points behind BTB and have a spare game. Their opponents won’t be an easy task, though, as they won the reverse fixture last month.
Cavalry U21 will be looking to put their defeat on Tuesday behind them when they host Calgary Rangers. Cavalry were beaten at home by the Blizzard in midweek, and now face a side who are fighting to break into the top three.
Friday concludes with Callies United on the road to face Edmonton Scottish, with the Blizzard back in action on Sunday when they travel to St. Albert Impact. The Foothills are then in action against the Rangers on Tuesday.
