Weekly Preview: Impossible to predict
There is still plenty of action ahead of us this weekend and into Tuesday, with a three-point gap between first and sixth in the Men’s Division.

Fine margins
It could be a rollercoaster Friday in the Men’s Division, as the gaps between the top six are so thin. The action begins with an all-Calgary affair when the Rangers host the Blizzard. The home side are third currently on 17 points, while their opponents are two points behind in sixth, so the Blizzard would leapfrog the Rangers with a win.
Current league leaders Edmonton BTB are the home side for their match against Callies United. They have plenty of teams hot on their heels, with only one point separating them and St Albert Impact in second and the Rangers in third. Callies are searching for their fourth win of 2025.
Calgary Foothills can also make their mark in the title race with a positive result against Cavalry U21. The visitors have struggled to find consistency so far this year, but the Foothills would move onto 18 points with a victory at Broadview Park.
Finally, St Albert Impact can carry last week’s 8-3 win into this matchweek when they travel to Edmonton Scottish. The visitors are the form side in the league, having not lost since May 9, in a run that has also seen them become the division’s top scorers, but reigning champions Scottish have their own title ambitions.
There are a further three games planned for Tuesday, with Scottish versus BTB, Foothills versus Villains, and Blizzard versus Cavalry U21 on the cards.
League leaders out of action
In the Women’s Division, those behind Calgary Foothills will want to make an impression on the title race this weekend with the league leaders not playing until Tuesday. St Albert Impact are second currently and can move level on points with the Foothills if they beat Edmonton Scottish away from home.
Third-placed Calgary Blizzard could move into second if results go their way. But their main aim will be to focus on themselves, as they will be searching for three points against Calgary Rangers away from home. The home side beat Edmonton Scottish last week, though, so they are carrying a win into their upcoming game.
To conclude another tense weekend of L1AB matches, Callies United are on the road to face Edmonton BTB. Both sides sit on 10 points at this stage and are outside of the current battle in the top three. A win for either would give them a three-point gap to their opponents.
As mentioned, Foothills are back in action on Tuesday when they face Calgary Villains, and an all-Edmonton derby between Scottish and BTB is also on the cards.
