Weekly Preview: Chasing the storm
Calgary Blizzard are without a game so those at the top of each L1AB division have a chance to get some breathing space.

A Calgary favour
Edmonton BTB head into the matchweek at the top of the Men’s Division and continue their title hunt at home against Calgary Foothills on Friday. The league leaders are two points ahead of Calgary Rangers, and three ahead of Calgary Blizzard, so those two sides will be hoping their Foothills neighbours can help them out.
The Rangers are also in action on the same day, hosting Edmonton Scottish at Webber Athletic Park. The visitors will be no easy task in a game that could change the face of the top four, with a win moving the Scottish onto 18 points and well into the title fight.
The third-placed Blizzard are out of action this weekend, but St Albert Impact in fourth could project themselves into the battle for top spot if they beat Calgary Villains on the road. The Villains are still without a point in 2025, so they desperately need a positive result if they are to start turning their season around.
Cavalry U21 host Callies United as both sides look to move away from the bottom half of the table. Sitting side-by-side, three points is the goal in a match that could make or break either of their seasons.
Looking to bounce back
St Albert Impact were looking like the form favourites in the Women’s Division until their defeat last week, and although they are yet to go top, they have always had games in hand.
St Albert’s gap to Calgary Foothills in first is six points, and they face Calgary Villains this weekend in a bid to reapply pressure at the top. Meanwhile the Foothills travel to Edmonton BTB and could be top by as many as seven points by the end of the matchweek.
Concluding the weekend, Calgary Rangers host Edmonton Scottish in a game between the bottom two. An away win would take the Scottish above their opponents and onto seven points, but points have been difficult to come by so far.
