League1 Alberta to kick off on April 18
A livestreamed doubleheader will kickstart the return of Alberta’s Pro-Am soccer competition.

Edmonton BTB will host expansion team Calgary Rangers in the opening matches of the 2025 League1 Alberta season, kicking off the campaign on April 18.
A doubleheader is scheduled for the Friday night with the women’s teams taking to the field at 5pm, before the men’s teams meet at 7:30pm. Both matches have been confirmed as Showcase Games, meaning they will be streamed live for fans to watch virtually – more details will be released in due course.
The season continues two weeks later with four doubleheaders on Friday, May 2. BTB will take on their second consecutive expansion team when they visit Calgary Villains who will make their L1AB debut at home.
Also running out for the first time will be the Calgary Wild U21s. It was announced in September that the Northern Super League club would take over the management of Alberta Soccer’s High Performance Program, and will field a Women’s Division squad under their own banner this year.
The Wild U21s – and the returning Cavalry U21s – will be taking the trip to St Albert Impact to begin their campaigns.
There will be an interesting doubleheader between Callies United and Calgary Foothills. Callies were runners-up in last year’s Women’s Division while the Foothills finished second in the men’s tier.
Calgary Blizzard and Edmonton Scottish round off a bumper day of action, before the Blizzard return to action on the following Tuesday when they host the Villains for the first midweek fixture of the new season.
Further ahead
Edmonton Scottish will stage their home opener on Friday, May 9 against Calgary Rangers in Matchweek Three, before the Wild and Cavalry welcome Foothills for their first home games of 2025 on May 20.
The Foothills then host Edmonton BTB three days later, and are the Rangers’ first visitors in League1 BC – an occasion scheduled for a Tuesday night under the lights on May 27.
The season is set to run through to August 8, where BTB and Cavalry/Wild U21 will host Callies and the Villains respectively to wrap up the 2025 campaign.
