Weekly Rewind: BTB bank first win of the season
The 2025 League1 Alberta season kicked off its new campaign over the weekend, with Edmonton BTB facing Calgary Rangers.
Edmonton’s women victorious
It was the perfect start for the Edmonton BTB women’s side who ran out as 3-0 winners in their fixture against league newcomers Calgary Rangers.
The hosts were the joint-third highest scorers in the league in 2024 and have wasted no time getting off the mark this year. Samantha Bouchard struck first to take a 1-0 lead into the break, before Makenna Van Der Veen and Isabella Amico sealed the points in the second period.
All square in the Men’s Division
In the Men’s Division, the points were shared after the sides battled out a 1-1 tie.
It was the visitors who took the lead thanks to a goal late in first-half stoppage time from Abel Nesibu – the Ranger’s first goalscorer in League1 Alberta.
The Rangers took the 1-0 scoreline into half-time but were pegged back early in the second half when Tao Hein equalized in the 48th minute.

There’s are no games this week, with Matchwek Two scheduled to begin on Friday, May 2 when BTB travel to Calgary Villains in one of four different matchups.
Calgary Rangers are next in action a week later against Edmonton Scottish.
